I have entered  text form field in a Word form (template
file). On properties I made the type current date, but
everytime you print or print preview the doc, the date
updates to the current date. I would like the date to
only update to the current upon creation of a doc file
from the template.

Then, instead of a form field, use a regular CreateDate field in your
template. It will update upon creation. See <URL:
http://addbalance.com/word/datefields1.htm> for information on the different
kinds of datefields and how to format them.

For more about online forms, follow the links at
http://addbalance.com/word/wordwebresources.htm#Forms or
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/FillinTheBlanks.htm especially Dian
Chapman's series of articles.

Hope this helps,
