Extra Space

the address block has an extra space on the first line of
every letter.  I have done the merge 3x.  I am using a
excel file.  I even changed it to a csv and the same thing
happened.  How do I fix without going to each and every
letter and deleting the space?

Lynette, I'd examine the merge document/template carefully -- sounds like
you already checked the data and you are saying the extra space is not
there. For example, in the address block where you are merging data into, is
there a paragraph indention there? (Turn on the ruler to quickly see
indentions.) Maybe there is an extra space in that area just before the
merge field?

Just a few suggestions...

Which version of Word do you have? Exactly which options are
you selecting in the dialog box for the Address block? And
with which language is the text formatted (click in the text,
then check Tools/Language/Set language)

When you choose to insert an Address Block a dialog box
should appear with "Joshua Ranall" list and other
checkboxes. I'm asking which options you're choosing there.

In the list of field names you mention above: are the
fields named like this in the Excel file, or are you
mapping the fields?
