I have a letterhead from linked file at the start of each of a number of
mailmerge letters.  When I open one of these letters, I am informed that the
document is linked to another file and asked if I wish to update the
document with data from that linked file.  I have a situation where I will
always wish to let that document be updated as things in the linked file
will change periodically.  However, I do not wish my users to be faced with
this message as it confuses them.  I can turn that message off in the
Options, but if I do, then the document is not updated.
Is there a way of updating the docment automatically, without displaying a
message asking for permission to do so?  I am using Word 2000, but some of
my users are using Word 2002 and a few, even Word 2003.  I am opening these
letters from Microsoft Access via automation code.

Hi Dixie,

See if the information in this Knowledge Base article matches what you're

Update

For the Registry key to turn it off, note that you have to specify the
matching version number for the version that's installed (IOW 9.0 for 2000,
10.0 for 2002, 11.0 for 2003)
