I have Word 2003 and am building labels with data from
Excel. I want some fields to be bold, others to be
underlined, etc, and I am unable to get it to do so. I've
even created what I want it to look like first, and then
replaced formatted fields with mail merge fields, but it
makes no difference. Any suggestions?

Use Alt+F9 to toggle on the field codes in the mailmerge main documnet and
inside the closing } of the fields that you want to format, add the

\* charformat

switch and then apply desired formatting to the M of the word MERGEFIELD.

It works! Thanks so much. I must say the help screens in
Word were less than helpful. Thanks again.  Martha

I think it's pretty obvious (like it stands out in CAPITAL LETTERS) how you
need to modify my email address to be able to send a message to me.
