1. Make sure you are saving the toolbar IN this document. (By default, Word will want to
save it in the Normal.dot template.)
2. Make sure it's visible when you save and close the document.
3. Now, check opening the document through Access. If the toolbar is not showing, can you
open it via View/Toolbars?
4. If you can do that, then close it again and record the steps to display it in a macro.
Be sure to save the macro in this document, and to name it AutoOpen.
5. Close the document and try opening it again through Access

Hi Thank you for getting back to me
>1. Make sure you are saving the toolbar IN this document. (By default, Word will want to

Yes saving in the test.doc
==========================
>2. Make sure it's visible when you save and close the document.
Yes it is on the screen in full view
==============================
>3. Now, check opening the document through Access. If the toolbar is not showing, can you
>open it via View/Toolbars?
NO it is not showing
Also it is NOT listed under View/Toolbars
===================================
The doc is in a folder like c:\access\word
where all the merged templates are
Now the funny thing is that if I goto the folder and double click the "test.doc" it loads word then the doc
I then CAN SEE the tool bar
BUT if I load from inside access I cannot see it or even see it under View/Toolbars
Hmmmmmmmmm I'm lost to what to do next.

Could you copy/paste the code you're using to "talk to Word" and open the document into a reply, please?

No. The email address in my message header is a "garbage
collector" due to the SWEN deluge (if I took off the max
limit it would get some 500 emails / hour, mostly with
viruses attached).
Also, I only deal with email support for paying customers.
I asked you to copy/paste your automation code into a reply,
here in the newsgroups.

Hi Cindy
Ok I understand
>I asked you to copy/paste your automation code into a reply,
>here in the newsgroups.
The script is very long so I think it would be best if you had a look at it here

As always, any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Sorry for the long hiatus. Things became rather hectic here, a few weeks ago...

If it's that long, then it contains more than what's involved in answering this
question. As with all others who answer questions on these groups, this is
something I do in my spare time. I really cannot wade through reams of code
looking for this one spot.
Please extract the parts that deal with declaring any object variables you use to
work with Word; that handle accessing the Word application; and opening the
document.
