I have a doc in word that has a date field and the field
must remain as the date the doc was created (ie will not
update to current date). For example, if I created a doc
7-21 the field would give the current date but if I open
up the file 7-22 I do not want it to update to current
date of 7-22. Is there code for this?
thank you

Tony,
Toggle the field code (ALT+F9). Change { DATE } to { CREATEDATE }. Toggle
the field code again.

Just any old user here ---but depending upon what version
of Word you have, you can use CREATEDATE. It works in
Word 2000. I assume you are saving it from a generated
template or something....when you save the NEW document,
the date is recorded in the properties box of the
document. Everytime you open the document, Word will
reflect the date the document was created.
