When I set up an advanced filterin a Word 2002 Mail Merge document using Mail Merge Recipients - Advanced - Filter records , the filter is not saved with the word document file.  I am mail merging from Access 2002.  Is there another way to set up an advanced filter in Word 2002?  It was easy in earlier versions of Word.

I believe this occurs because of an error in Word 2002's merge handling. I
don't think it was fixed in the recent Service Pack so unfortunately I
suspect the only things you can do are:
a. create exactly the query you need in Access (if that option is open to
you)
b. (perhaps - I'm not sure whether this will actually make a difference in
this case) use a different method of connecting to Access, e.g. check
Tools|Options|General|COnfirm Conversions at open, go through the connection
process again and choose either DDE (which starts Access) or ODBC, or click
the MS Query option on the Tools menu in the Select Data Source dialog box
and use MS Query to set up the query.
c. create a small macro that executes the OpenDataSource method and pass
the appropriate SQL to it.
