I have a VB program that has for years been happily
mailmerging with older Windows, Word and Excel versions.
Now a customer has an XP installation with Office 2002.

Whenever the program now starts a mailmerge, Word throws
up the box with sheets in the workbook and asks to select
one. I have tried many variations in the OpenDatasource
statement but cannot get rid of this problem.

I noticed in one of Graham Mayor's tips that there has
been a change in the way Office programs connect, does
that have any bearing on my problem?

It is *entirely* the issue. Mailmerge has been completely changed - see

Graham,

Thanks for your speedy reaction. A few questions remain
however. Your page is not explicit on whether the option
should be ticked or un-ticked and does this have positive
effects for my program?

The mailmerge in question takes place un-attended, there's
no-one to manually select a type of connection.

Whereas my page was more concerned with simple merges, fellow MVP Cindy
Meister has documented the issues more fully at
http://homepage.swissonline.ch/cindymeister/MM2002/MM2002.htm. See if this
helps you resolve the problems.
