Is it a merge problem or a print problem?

I am an experienced user of Office.
I am using an Excel spreadsheet to generate labels using
Word's mail-merge function.
My labels have three fields on two lines -
Last_Name, First_Name
End_Date

The merge performs as expected with one glitch.  The
End_Date (8/27) is being displayed with a hashed
underline.  The print preview excludes the end date.  This
is true even if I change the point size of all words to
6.

1.  What is Word trying to tell me by underling the second
line (the date) with a hashed underline?
2.  How do I correct the problem so that the date will
print out on my labels?

Thanks,
Jerry

Hi Jerry,

It sounds like hidden formatting has been applied to that field.
