Hi, hope someone can help out with this.  I have created a
mail merge using Word 2002 and an Access 97 database.
Now, when i try and open the mailmerged document it
insists on opening Access 2002, which in turn tries to
convert the data source part of the document from it's
native 97 format.

Why is it using Access 2002?  The default file types for
all Access related files are set to open with Access 97 so
I'm a bit confused.  I have the 'Confim conversion at
open' option selected within Word, otherwise it can't find
the data source (persumably needs DDe connection to pickup
Access 97 .mdb).

Any help appreciated!

One way around the problem would be to export the data to an Excel
Spreadsheet and use that for the mailmerge
