I used the built in address book(found under
Start/Programs/Accessories) to add a bunch of addresses now
I can not merge them into labels. Every time I choose
'Address Book'  it takes me to my Outlook contacts. Can
anyone help?
Thanks in advance.

The simplest plan is to export the addresses from the address book to a text
(CSV) file and import them into Outlook,.

Thanks for the advice, I did that and worked around the
problem; I exported to a file(on the desktop) using CSV
then I opened mail merge and ran it from there, using the
query filter porcess to eliminate unwanted addresses.
Thanks again
