I created an automated process of mail merge that worked fine in Word
2000 and 2002. However, once I tested it out in Word 2003, section
breaks appeared. Now after every detail record, there is a section
break. Help!

A mailmerge that produces a form letter type of document will produce a
section break after each record.

Sounds as if this is no longer recognized as a catalog (Word 2003 calls
these "directories") type of mail merge. Are you certain it's still
marked as "Directory" type, and not "letter"?
How about if you set up a test merge with a new document?

Oops! that's correct I needed to code in the mailmerge as a Directory
type merge. Apparently it wasn't a problem in Word 2000 or Word 2002.
