In Word 2003 when I create a merge document and use an
Access 2003 database as the data source, I can't link to
any parameter queries in that database. They don't even
show up in the listing.

You have to check Word Tools|Options|General|"Confirm conversions at open",
then go through the data source selection process again and choose the DDE
option when it is offered. This is the old connection method (Word 2000 and
earlier) which starts Access so you must have Access on your system for it
to work.
