hello,
I have the following formatting in a merge field in WORD.

{ IF { MERGEFIELD "ERSAL" } <>"" "{ MERGEFIELD "ERSAL" }" "" \*
MERGEFORMAT }

The display is now
First Name

I want it to be
First Name

What I am trying to do is remove the space that is associated with this
merge field if it is blank in the data source.
Right now if the field is blank, a space shows up.

How can I eliminate the space as the one above doesn't work?

Thanks
BOB REYNOLDS

You have a space in plain text in the merge document. Move this space into
the field result
eg
{IF{Mergefield ERSAL} <> "" " {Mergefield ERSAL}"}
ie
{IF{Mergefield ERSAL} <> "" "[space]{Mergefield ERSAL}"}

Thus the space is placed when the field has content.
