A client has Word 2002 and Access 2000 - running Win2000

I tried to set up a mail merge document using the results
of an Access 2000 parameter query as the datasourse.

I was unable to make the connection - dde, odbc, nothing
would get recognized and allow me to link to the query.

I did successfully get this to work on my machine at work
(word 2002 and Access 2002). Is there a known issue/area
I should be looking into? Can you offer me some
suggestions of how to resolve this problem?

Where is the Access DB located? Work? or Client?

If I had this issue, I would look into where the
datasource is located. Since it works at work it should
work on your client's PC given they have access to the DB
or ODBC.

File AND the Access 2000 DB file are both LOCAL on my
cliet's harddrive. The DB is split between FrontEnd and
BackEnd - the query I am trying to link to is in the
FrontEnd - No additional networking involved.

There was an initial problem on my work PC which required
me to unselect the auto-conversion option in Word. I did
the same on my client's machine but that was not the
solution.

Any other ideas?

Normally, DDE lets you see all the queries and tables. If it does not, then
the chances are that the problem is to do with the two different versions of
SQL supported by Access. I don't know a whole lot about this area but if you
open the database (I think this would be the front-end database) in Access
2002 and look at Tools|Options|Queries and Tables you should see an SQL
Compatibility mode setting. If you change this, Access will change your
database, so proceed with caution, but it /may/ make those queries visible
when you open that database using Access 2000. The option isn't actually
available in Access 2000 as far as I know.

Probably worth trying, anyway.
