I'm trying to create labels using mail merge. I downloaded the addresses
that I need form the web into a word 2002 document, The fields are
separated by tabs and the records are separated by the "enter key". There
are about 150 records all together. There are no duplicate records, null
records, or null fields. When I merge the 150 records onto the label
template, I'm getting lots of duplicates. I don't know why. 120 records
(addresses) can fit on a 3 label across by 40 label down sheet . I added a
number field for test purposes to the data. Addresses 1 thru 120 fit appear
on the first sheet correctly. Then come the repeats. Addresses 2 thru 121
appear on the second sheet. Addresses 3 thru 122 fit on the third sheet,
etc. I've tried all different kind of sorts. Nothing seems to work.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks..
My guess is that you haven't completed the merge and are viewing the merge
source document - see

Thanks, but I think that I did everything correctly. I selected an Avery
label template from the mail merge wizard and merged the address data onto
it. The output looked correct except for all of the duplicates.

Did you merge to the printer or a new document?

No, that was the problem Thanks! I didn't complete the merge after all. I
stopped after I clicked the "view merge" button. When I saw all the
duplicates, I thought that there was something wrong. I'm wondering why the
"view merge" shows duplicates?

That's how the merge source document works - it simply steps through the
data one record at a time. You have to complete the merge.
