Has any one encountered problems with mail merge fields with deci.

I have numerous fields I am merging into a letter and the one with problems
is a balance field. I've tried using Excel and Access as the data source and
we keep getting the same problem. The ield is formatted for two decimal
places and when it is merged into the document th enumber is carried out to 6
or 8 digits. Help
