Mail merge using zip code that begins with "0"

How do I print labels using Word mail merge using data
from an excel spread sheet that have a zip code that
begins with "0" (01742). Even though in the Excel document
the column is formatted as "zip code" and appears correct,
when merged into labels using Word mail merge the "0" is
dropped (1742).

Thanks for responding to this query. The easiest solution
is to put an apostrophe in front of the zero in the excel
spread sheet ('01742). This will cause the merge to
recognize the zero but not reveal the apostrophe.
