How can I merge names from database to award certificates? What is the
quickest and easiest way to do this.  I need to put many different names and
print on award certificates for school.

Use mailmerge.
See the article "How to create a Mail Merge" at:

Do you have Publisher by any chance?  It's easier to use for printing on
certificates: it has moveable rulers so you can guage text placement easily,
and has a simpler mail merge. In short, you can set this up faster in
Publisher than you can in Word.

Just my two cents worth,
Andrea
