how do i use point, instead of pitch, in word 2000?

good afternoon. is there a way to switch from pitch to point for text size,
to help me fit it into regularly spaced boxes on a form? this is for use w/
a mailmerge on word 2000 for a "consultation & Treatment form".

It's probably no help for you to learn this, but font sizes are expressed in
points. I'm not really sure what you want to do, or rather, would do if you
thought that font sizes were expressed in terms of pitch and you were able
to switch it to the size being expressed in points.

Hey Doug (how's that for a slow response?). Actually, I got it backwards.
looking to use pitch (characters per inch??) instead of point. i have a form
that I'd like to be able to fill out using a merge document. unfortunately,
it has those pesky evenly spaced boxes that have to be filled in, so if the
characters are not evenly spaced, it does not work. I figured that if i
could set that merge field (or that area of the form) to 10 (or whatever)
characters per inch, I might be able to do it.
