My edit button is not active on my Recipient List.  The guidance in the top
box discusses how to sort and select fields.  What do I do to be able to edit
the data file for my Mail Merge Wizard, mailings/envelopes.  I created a file
for printing envelopes.  Thanks a lot for the help!

Use the datasource with a catalog (or in Word XP and later, directory) type
mailmerge main document in which you have a one row table with the
mergefields in individual cells.  Then execute that merge and you will get a
table with all of the records in it.  Insert a row at the top of the table
and insert the names of your mergefields in that row and then edit that
table as you wish and save it and use it as the data source for your
mailmerge.

I'm having a similar problem - why would the Edit button be grayed out?  Do I
need to install some extra feature?

I'm using an ODBC connection to a sql server view. I don't want to create a
second version of my data, edit this by hand, and then merge again.

Thanks!
