I would like to move a record in my Word data file, but don't want to sort
the entire file as the key field contains both alpha and numeric characters
that don't necessarily ascend or descend in order.  I have tried to insert
the new record in place, but the program puts it at the end of the file.

Which version of Word is this? And is the "data file" one you're generating
with the tools provided by Word? If not, what is it?
