how to mail merge data into labels?

I am unable to get my Excel database into a label merge.  It works fine until
the final step, then there is no data in the labels.

first go to tool, and click on letters and mailmarge, then go to mail marge
wizard.  After that you will choose "Labels".  Click next for step 2 of 6.  
select recipient type a new list new address list create ok and save.  hope
this will help you.
