I have my default margins (in the template) set to be .5
on bottom and top and 1.25 on left and right. When I merge
my main document (which is also set to .5 and 1.25), the
finished document has margins of 1 on bottom and top. The
side margins are ok. I am using include text on the main
document to include a logo at the top of the letter. I am
merging the fields from an odbc data source. I checked the
margins on the logo (inlcude text/where the logo is coming
from)and those margins are also set to .5 and 1.25. Any
suggestions?

Hi MWalker,

Version of Word?

What are you margin settings in a brand new document, when
you've just started up Word?

Hi Walkerm,

Sorry about the delay, I've had real problems getting into
the groups the last couple of weeks with all the slow-downs
due to the worm-spamming.

When I have been able to get in, I've re-read this and
tried to think what it might be, and haven't come up with
much. I guess the next thing I'd try would be:

Put the /a switch at the end of the "Target" line of your
Word icon's Properties (right-click the icon). This will
start Word with the installation defaults. Set up a new
mail merge document with the data source as a test. Check
the margins - are they "correct"?

If yes, add the IncludeText. Still good?

If yes, open the main merge doc giving you problems and
carefully copy ONLY the text (no section break, no last
paragraph mark and no IncludeText field) into that new
document. How about now?

I know what you mean about the worm-spamming. I have about
a 50 emails with virsus a day from using this newsgroup. I
am on a network so our adminsitrator lets me know that a
virsus is attached. They are using an address line with
anything on it to try and get me to open it. whats
interesting is that it says it coming from microsoft.
Anyway, back to my problem, I am on a netware version of
word. I changed the target line and tested a new document
and once i merge the margin defaults back to 1. I
originally thought it had something to do with my logo,
but since this letter didn't include the include text or
picture, i know its not that. somehow, it is defaulting
back to the original 1" margin, but where? I double check
my default template
(c\windows\applicationdata\microsoft\template normal.dot)
and it says the margins are .5 on top and bottom. it also
says the header and footer is at .5. could this have
something to do with it? i did test it before and put 0 in
the header and footer and got the same results.

Hi Walkerm,

OK... I don't have any experience with this, but definitely a
thought. And it also brings a new question up: are you using
Word as your email editor, by any chance?

And you're absolutely certain Word is using this for new
documents?

In the merge result document, what is set as the attached
template in Tools/Templates and Addins?

I should be so lucky! Here, it averages 2 - 3 / MINUTE!
