I am trying to mailmerge and have an ask date field

{Ask Reply "Enter the Reply Date:" \0 }

when I try to update and merge, it will prompt me for the date, however it
will not
insert the date. Any help on what I am not doing correctly would be
appreciated

The ASK field does not insert the reply, it sets a bookmark for the reply
which can then be used in a REF field. Take a look at the ASK and Fill-In
Field tutorial at http://addbalance.com/word/download.htm.
