I am attempting to create a merge template between access 2002 & Word 2002. I
have several date fields where sometimes there is a date and some times there
is no date. Word is currently inserting todays date in this field if it is
blank. Is it possible to get this field to be blanked out when there is no
data in the field in Access?

I have also just noticed that for any dates where the day is less than 12 my
switch is not working correctly. {MERGEFIELD  CRdate \@ "d-MMM-yy"
MERGEFORMAT} ie 2nd of september 2003 (entered in Access as 02/09/2003) comes
into word as 9-Feb-03. For all other dates it is working fine.
Can some one help me with this too?
I am confused!

Cheers Alan

I would use the format function in an Access Query in association with the
IFF function and then use the Access Query as the data source.

I am currently using an Access Query as the data source.
What are the format function and IFF function and what do i need to do with
them?

Sorry, typo there, it should have been IIF

IIF([CRDate]="","",Format([CRDate, "dd-MMM-yy))
