Mailmerge used to be so easy. Now it has a complicated wizard which sorts
fields the way it wants to. I have the following fields. Company, Address,
Address2. Address3. Town, Postcode. This is because some addresses are
longer than others. The wizard transposes some of the fields - for instance,
it puts postcode after Address and Town after Postcode?? Why? Also, after I
have sorted the fields the way I want them, it duplicates some information -
i.e. 5 High Street, 5 High Street. Why??
Why can't Microsoft leave things along. If it works don't fix it.

Two things that you can do to regain your sanity:
From the View menu, select Toolbars and then check the Mailmerge item. That
will cause the mailmerge toolbar to be displayed and it contains a series of
buttons that will allow you to do everything you want with mail merge.
From the Tools menu, select Customise and on the Commands tab of the
Customize dialog, select the All Commands category and then scroll down
through the list of commands until you locate the MailMergeHelper item.
Left click and hold on it and drag it onto a toolbar or menu. You will then
be able to go about a mailmerge in the way to which you are accustomed.

If you abandon the AddressBlock field and go back to inserting individual
fields you will be happier.
http://www.gmayor.com/mail_merge_labels_with_word_xp.htm explains how to
get mail merge working (largely) the way you are familiar with.
