Merging to a Directory

I want to merge records from excel (or access) into a
Directory.  I can do this but I have a problem where it
skips certain records.  When in landscape it skipped every
7th record (there were 6 to the page).
Doing the same thing in portrait it left out all the even
numbered ones.  I used a number field in the merge to show
me what was missing.
I've created new documents and new data sources and still
have the same problems.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Helen,

Can you describe which steps you used to set up this
"Directory" main merge document? It sounds to me almost as if
you're doing something with the NEXT field, or with the
"labels" functionality?

Which version of Word is this?

Sorry should have said we are using office XP.
In setting up the directory I have used "next record".
They are place cards for a dining table and have the name
printed twice so it shows on both sides once they are cut
up. There are 6 names to the page.  It always skips
record 7.  Is it the Next record field that causes the
problem?  (I suspect it might be)
Does this make any sense at all??

Yes, it's making some sense :-)

you have to be careful where you put the "Next Record"
fields. Be sure you don't have one at the beginning of the
first "box", and none after the last one. (Press Alt+F9 to
be able to see/hide the codes for ALL fields in the
document.)

Thanks, removing the last "Next Record" has fixed the
problem.
