In MS Word 97 I created a Main document using the WWLetter template in MS
Word 97.

Now that I am using MS Word XP I have found that the letters can take up to
ten minutes each to load.  I do have quite a few word fields in my letter but
it did not take this long using MS Word 97.

Has anyone experienced this with an upgrade to Word XP?

Are you on a network and is this a document rather than a template? If so,
the document is likely searching the network looking for its original
template, which is no longer there.

Hi Charles

Yes we are on a network however I'm not sure if it's a document or template
as I'm trying to solve this for someone else.  Thank you for your prompt
reply as I will check to see where it is searching.

If this is your problem, if you disconnect from the network and try to open
it, it will open up much faster. If that happens, attach it to the
normal.dot template of the user.
