Mail merge was easier in Word 200 and 2002. Please allow 2003 users to use
the old system.

You can get back the old interface by selecting Customize from the Tools
menu and then selecting the All Commands category on the Commands tab and
then locate the Mail Merge Helper item from the list of commands and click
and drag it onto the toolbar or the Tools menu.

You can also do everything that you need to with mail merge via the
mailmerge toolbar that you can cause to be displayed by selecting Toolbars
from the View menu and then checking the Mailmerge item.
