Is it possible to insert pictures in Word2000 mail merge document?

I am trying to create a member directory that includes a photo of each
member. My data source file is in Excel2000 and I'm using Word2000 to perform
the merge. So far, I haven't had any luck getting the pictures to appear in
my merged document. Does Word2000 have the ability to do this? If not, how
about Publisher2000? My head hurts from banging it into the wall, so thanks
for any help out there.
