mail merged in word w/ address list in excel, now cant open excel

MAIL MERGE from Excel - 07 May 2005 00:52 GMT

I did a mail merge letter in word using a large excel file of business data
that included mailing addreesses. Now when I try to open the excel file of
business data it will not open and I get an error window that says
"________.xls file format not valid"

How can I get the excel file to open?

Did you get this problem fixed because I did the same thing this am and am
having the same problem

Darlene, I have not yet received any suggestions on how to get my original
excel file back to a valid file format.
