Getting a Parameter to work in Microsoft Query

Hi.

I posted earlier about not being able to link an Access databases parameter
query to a mail merge document and didnt get any replies. Since then someone
has posted nearly the exact same question on the Access newsgroup and was
told not to use an Access query but to call up Microsoft Query from the Word
document. Ive played around with this and get stopped when I enter the
parameter in the query - I get the message You Cannot Use A Parameter in
This Query. Ive followed the instructions carefully, as described in Help.
Any ideas?
