Version of Word? did you just change to this version? Have you protected
the document?

Hi =?Utf-8?B?UGV0ZXIgUA==?=,

OK, now I understand your confusion :-)

Every version of Word has gone about inserting graphical objects a bit
differently, trying to figure out the best way to "please everybody, all the
time". I think they finally got it right in 2003: You can now set the text-wrap
formatting you prefer when inserting pictures and such.
Tools/OPtions/Edit/Insert-paste pictures as.

Background: Word can handle graphical objects either "in-line with the text",
which means they behave same as text characters. Or "floating over the text",
which means you can specify how the text should flow around them. Only when
they're formatted with text flow can you freely move them around on the page.

So, for existing pictures, right-click, choose the format entry, go to the
layout and choose something like "Square". Try out the various options, and
when you find the one you prefer, you can change the default setting.
