I have an excel database with just one column which is 'e-mail addresses',
and when using ms word 2003 mail merge, it gets to the end and then says
locked fields, yet the excel database is not locked or protected.

then if i press ok, it sends it, but i cannot sit and press ok at 1000
e-mail addresses

Are you sure that is the error message and that it is not something to do
with Outlook Security.

See the information in the Preparations section of the article "Mail Merge
to E-mail with Attachments" at

Thank you for your reply, but i think i found why its doing it. It has to do
with text boxes and image holders - mail merge doesn't like them!

But also i have a problem with the images used within the e-mail being sent
as attachments - which i don't want
