How large of a field can be merged in a mail merge document?  I am merging
from an Excel file and sometimes the amount of data is clipped off when
merged in the merged document.

There's a 255 character limit.  There may be a way around it by shecking the
"Confirm conversions at open" box in Tools>Options>General and then when
attaching the data source to the mailmerge main documnet, selecting DDE as
the method of connection.
