When I try to merge data from a mailing list onto labels some of the Co.
names are to long and wrap once or twice to other lines.
This causes city, zip information to be below the label and not on the
lable.
I can find no way in word 2000 to limit the co. name field in length so it
want automatically take another line.
I am using Office 2000 with updates.

Thanks if you can help

Hi Norman,

There is no way, really, to limit the length of what a merge field brings
across. One possible (albeit finicky) approach would be to split each label
vertically into three cells, set the width of the "middle" one (for the
company name) to an exact height, so that the text that breaks to additional
lines won't be displayed or affect the layout.

The other way would be to truncate the data in the data source. Since you
don't mention in what application your data is stored, it's hard to offer
any hard-and-fast suggestions on how to accomplish this.
