I was using Word 2000 and was recently upgraded to Word 2003.  I use mail
merge frequently.  The documents are not really letters but forms.  In Word
2000 - there was a button called "Mail Merge Helper" - Where is it in Word
2003? This is where you can select to filter your data by particular
criteria.  PLEASE HELP!!!!!

You can restore the mailmerge helper that was the user interface before Word
XP by selecting customize from the Tools menu and then on the Commands tab,
select the All Commands category and scroll down through the list of
commands until you locate the Mail Merge Helper item and then click and drag
it onto a toolbar or the expanded tools menu.

Hope this helps.
