I have selected a database using Get Data Source.  I have selected "via DDE".
The database opens but I receive a message "The task is taking longer than
expected.  Do you want to continue waiting?".  I select Yes and I continue to
receive the message.

I want to be able to select a parameter query for the merge, but I can get
to that part of the process.

Thanks,
Karen

I am using version 2000 for both applications.

If you try connecting to the database (not this query, but some table) using ODBC,
does that work OK?

Do you perhaps have the option "Ignore DDE requests" checked in Access
Tools/OPtions/Advanced? Is the database already opened by someone else in
Exclusive mode?
