When I am mail merging documents using Excel as data
source, the field with date is pulling the code in a non-
date format.

Could you please advise on how to correct?

Hi Michael,

Is it really non-date format or is it that the day/month are reversed,

See the article about that at fellow MVP Cindy Meister's website at
http://homepage.swissonline.ch/cindymeister/MergFram.htm

Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the
benefit of others who may be interested.  Unsolicited questions forwarded
directly to me will only be answered on a paid consulting basis.

Hope this helps
