Using Word 2000, we are trying to eliminate a space in
mail merge.  If there is no title in the field there is a
space where the title should be.  If you use the "Insert
Word Field" from the toolbar, then
click  "If...then...else..." and use prefix in the field
name and comparison "is blank", what symbol or characters
do you have to use in order to eliminate the extra
space?  If you want to insert a character or symbol, it
works fine.  But we can't seem to remove the space.
Thanks for any help you can give us.

Hi Gail,

In the result for the blank condition being, insert what ever it is that you
want to appear (i.e. the next word or the next mergefield)

In the result for the blank condition being false, insert the title
mergefield plus a space plus whatever it is that you want to appear next as
above.

Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the
benefit of others who may be interested.  Unsolicited questions forwarded
directly to me will only be answered on a paid consulting basis.

Hope this helps
