Hi all,

I have a customer mailing application developed using VB 6 and Oracle
9i(customer database). I regularly create mailing labels from this
customer database. The label creation is automated using MS Word's
mail merge feature. The programming for the mail merge is coded using
VB.

This is a client/server application, with nodes having Win XP and MS
Word XP or Word 2003.

Everything is going fine except for the "speed of the mail merge".
It starts of with a good speed and almost hangs up in the middle and
takes its own time to complete....I would be greatly pleased if someone
could solve my problem to SPEED UP the mail merge process.

About 5mins to merge about 200 records, some times I merge 1000s of
records and it take hours.....phew!!!

Looking for a good solution from you experts...Thanks in advance.

Is the merge being done directly to a printer?  If so, it may be better to
have the merge executed to a new document and then use code to print that.

Hope this helps.

Nope, I merge it to a new Word Document and save it to my hard disk,
then I print it manually.
