I have a someone in our HR department trying to use the
maile merge option.  They are pulling in this information
from an excel file into a Word template. This has worked
in an earlier version(97) and now using Office 2002. The
issue is that when pulling in the salary field it is not
rounding the number. The field in Word will be about 10
extra numbers past the decimal point. Is there some
setting to force the rounding ? Much help is needed.

Thanks,
Brian

Try using a format switch in the field in Word, e.g. change

{ MERGEFIELD mynumber }

to

{ MERGEFIELD mynumber \#"$,0.00" }

it will probably truncate rather than round.

Alternatively you can go back to the default DDE connection method used in
Word 97 by checking Word Tools|Options|General|Confirm conversions at open,
reconnecting to the data source, and choosing the DDE option when prompted.
