I am trying to insert merge fields into my document that are a paragraph long
(2-3 sentences).

Also, I was wondering if data fell into a merge field as a 2-3 digit code
could it access a table that would automatically drop a large amount of copy
into the document at that point?

You can use a mergefield inside an IncludeText field

Hope this helps.
