Corrupt Data Fields?

I'm using Microsoft Word Version 2000.

I typed addresses in for mailing labels in word, under
mail merge. In the past, I'd then type a letter and merge
the two, addressing the labels.

However, this time, when I go to merge the labels, it no
longer gives me the option of "firstname," "lastname," and
so on. Whatever names and addresses I typed in the data
field is what appears now in place of the original
headers. As a result, I can only apply a third of all
addresses that need applied.

Is it possible to change the settings, and if so, how
would I change them back?

Wes, I can understand you're being impatient. But you don't
help yourself or others by re-posting the question when
there's an on-going discussion.

Impatient? It's been two days and we have got nothing at
all solved. This is business stuff that needs done as soon
as possible. I can't just put business on hold
for "technical support" that's gonna take me a week.
I can now see why this is a free support area. I guess you
get the help you pay for.

Or, put perhaps a bit differently, if you're too stingy to
invest in proper training, or a beginner's level book, you
end up paying for it by spending more time on a project than
it ought to take.

If you take a few minutes to read other message threads in
this group, you'll see that support/satisfaction is actually
quite high. But getting a good answer does depend on everyone
"being on the same wavelength". And unfortunately, we simply
can't look over your shoulder and say "Aha!"

For more detailed information on what these groups are, and
concrete suggestions for solving your problem, please see my
response in the on-gong thread.
