Merge - Encountering Errors Word 2003 SP3

I am trying to set up several Word templates using data from one Word
database. Why doesn't the data stay linked to more than one document
at a time?

I wonder if there is patch to fix this problem???

I have no problems in Word 2003 having a number of documents merged to the
same data file. That has been my experience since at least at least Word 3.0
