I am using the following numeric picture switch with a mailmerge field:

(\# $X,XX0.00)

The mailmerge result always includes the closing ) in the merge result.  How
do I eliminate this?

You should not have the parentheses.

See "Formatting Word fields with switches" on fellow MVP Graham Mayor's
website at

Hope this helps.
