When I try to use the shade command in the tool bar, it is
there, but thre are no colors, like it is not active.
Excel works fine, just not in word?  Anyone know the fix,
or heard of this before???

Thanks

1. To what kind of thing are you trying to apply shading?
(What's selected)
2. The control in which toolbar?

My best guess: you're trying to format a table. In this case,
go to Format/Borders and Shading or use the tool in the
Tables toolbar. (You're probably trying to use the Drawing
tools...)
