I have huge gaps between my letters(but cant delete the
space).  I checked the settings for spacing to no avail.
If I change fonts, the gaps are still there.

If I put the word file on a network drive and access it
through the network on a nother machine the document
comes up fine.  I have not the faintest clue.  I
reinstalled Win XP PRO already.  This is an xp pro
machine.  Machine specs are average for a laptop.
Updates are current.'

ANy help is definately welcome.

Hi Fred,

It could be caused by your printer driver. Try updating it and see if
that resolves the problem.
