Out of the blue, light gray margin brackets now appear on
all my documents in page view.  These brackets are at
each corner of the document, look like this: "L" and line
up with the actual page margins.  I went through the
tools/options menu looking for this setting so I can turn
it off, but I can't find it. Any ideas?  Thanks! ~Carol

Carol,

You need to turn off the text boundaries option:
On the Tools menu, click Options
Select the View tab
Make sure the Text boundaries checkbox has been cleared (click it)
Click OK

Hi Jon, I checked this out and the text boundaries
checkbox was not checked.  When I checked the checkbox,
just for grins, it displayed an entire box on the
document (where the margins are).  The original issue is
a little L-shaped "bracket" in each corner of the page,
in light gray, that corresponds to where the margins are
placed.

Hi Carol,

This is caused by using Asian/Far East language support.

If you do not need this language support you can turn it off under
Start/Programs/Microsoft Office Tools/Language Settings.
